USDOC Supports EEIAC
Dallas, 28 February 2006 – The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC)
has expressed its support for independent audits and the Exhibition &
Event Industry Audit Commission on its Web site at
www.export.gov/audits_of_trade_expositions.asp,
which provides online trade resources and one-on-one assistance for
international business.
The site states: “The USDOC encourages independent audits of trade
expositions. Audits are published third party reviews, conducted in
accordance with industry-standard guidelines as established by the
Exhibition and Event Industry Audit Commission. They should include
attendance verification, validation of attendees contact information,
and a statement attesting to the correctness of basic demographics
collected via the registration process.”
This support enhances the EEIAC’s effort to provide structure and
direction for the proper implementation of independently conducted
exhibition and event attendance audits and promotes the wider use of
such audits. The EEIAC represents the broadest cross-section of users of
audited event attendance data including exhibition organizers,
exhibitors, corporate event organizers, trade show organizers and
advertising and marketing agencies. The EEIAC has created and
distributed standards for the conduct of event audits for trade shows
and consumer events that can be found on its Web site at
www.exhibitionaudits.org,
as well as other useful information.
About EEIAC
The Exhibition and Event Industry Audit Commission (EEIAC) is a not for
profit Texas corporation organized in 2005 for the purpose of managing
and overseeing the exhibition industry's independent audit processes.
The EEIAC is managed by a Board of Commissioners, the majority of whom
represent exhibiting organizations and which also includes
representatives of advertising agencies and exhibition organizers. EEIAC
has promulgated and published two separate Standards for the Performance
of independent audits. Among its other responsibilities, EEIAC also
establishes Rules and Regulations for the certification of audit
providers who wish to use the EEIAC registered service mark. EEIAC's
mission is to promote the use of independent audits in order to provide
exhibiting companies with greater transparency about the quantity and
quality of attendance at trade shows in North America. In order to use
the EEIAC service mark an exhibition must participate in annual
attendance audits that are conducted according to EEIAC standards. For
more information, please go to
